The Master of Science in Digital Transformation aims to offer the graduate student foundational and advanced practical knowledge in the topics related to Digital Transformation. This unique interdisciplinary program addresses the increasing need for digital leadership across all sectors being digitised at fast speed.  It is aimed at equipping graduates to spearhead digital technologies and projects, drawing inspiration from internationally esteemed courses and subjects.

The goals of the program are to:

  • Educate the next generation of digital transformation leaders with the knowledge to design sustainable digital systems.

  • Enable students to make smarter and faster decisions when designing, developing, and procuring digital tools and services for their organizations.

  • Equip students with practical knowledge and skills to lead digital transformation initiatives and manage digital technological change in organizations.

  • Foster an understanding of how emerging digital technologies can be aligned with business goals to create value and drive innovation.

  • Enable students to leverage data analytics and digital tools to make informed and evidence-based strategic decisions.

What You Will Learn

The Master of Science in Digital Transformation aims to offer graduate students foundational and advanced practical knowledge in the topics related to Digital Transformation. The students who will become the next generation of digital transformation leaders will be educated to learn and apply their knowledge to design sustainable digital systems, and make smarter and faster decisions when designing, developing, and procuring digital tools and services for their organizations. The program equips students with knowledge and skills to lead digital transformation initiatives and manage digital technological change in organizations. It also fosters an understanding of how emerging digital technologies can be aligned with business goals to create value and drive innovation. In addition, this unique interdisciplinary program enables students to leverage data analytics and digital tools to make informed and evidence-based strategic decisions. Furthermore, the program cultivates a mindset of innovation, adaptability, and agility to respond to rapid digital technological changes and disruptions. The students will be able to learn ethical, social, and legal aspects of digital transformation, including privacy, security, compliance and sustainability, and how they can be considered and implemented through the digital transformation journey of an organisation.

Grad Standing.

The course provides students with the cutting-edge knowledge and skills in leading and managing digital transformation initiatives in organizations. The course covers advanced concepts in digital transformation, including digital products, digital tools and technologies, disruptive technologies, digital innovation, and digital business models. Additional concepts covered include leadership types and characteristics, digital strategies, managing digital assets, and alignment of digital initiatives with organizational goals. The course prepares students to be leaders of digital transformation projects by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and experience through practical cases and projects undertaken in small groups, benchmarked with the best industry practices and success stories.

This course introduces students to the fundamental principles and practices of data management and analytics, equipping them with the skills to collect, store, process, analyze, and visualize data effectively. Students will explore the entire data lifecycle, from data acquisition and cleaning to advanced analytics techniques and decision-making. The course covers key topics such as database design, SQL, data warehousing, big data technologies, and data governance. Students will also gain hands-on experience with popular data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI and Rapid Miner).

This course introduces students to the foundation of digital product development focusing on the design, develop, and launch digital products in dynamic environments. Emphasis is also on compatibility across platforms and compliance with global standards and regulations. Students will explore methodologies, and tools used in digital product development while considering usability, sustainability, privacy, security, and ethical considerations.

Artificial Intelligence for Digital Transformation

Prerequisite:

Grad Standing.

This course covers fundamental and advanced concepts and techniques in the field of artificial intelligence for digital transformation. The main topic list includes intelligent agents, uninformed and informed search, adversarial search, constraint satisfaction problem, and uncertain knowledge and reasoning, which covers Bayesian Networks, and Decision Networks. In addition, advanced topics will include machine learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing (or vision/robotics), deep learning, large and small language models, context-aware AI models and AI agents. The topics will also cover the process and frameworks for the integration of AI digital tools into digital transformation process.

Research Methods in Digital Transformation

Grad Standing.

The research methods course provides a comprehensive foundation of designing and developing research projects. It covers topics such as introduction to research in digital transformation, design thinking, project lifecycle, data collection and analysis techniques, proposal development, dissemination of research findings, emerging trends in digital transformation. In also provides knowledge and skills required to develop a well-structured research proposal. Students will collaborate closely with industry mentors who propose live, real-world projects. By the end of the course, students are expected to produce a detailed project/thesis proposal, demonstrating a clear understanding of the problem, its significance, and a roadmap for execution. This proposal lays the groundwork for the thesis or dissertation to be developed in subsequent stages of their academic journey.

Thesis(Dissertation)

Prerequisite:

Grad Standing.

This is a compulsory capstone course, serving as the program's final component, and allowing an extended independent study and research. The primary goal of the course is to provide the student with an opportunity to conduct an independent investigation of a digital transformation process and framework with an application in a specific problem of a selected sector through self-directed discovery and experiential learning process. It draws on various components of the program, most notably the quantitative and research methodologies. Additionally, students will benefit from personalized supervision by an academic supervisor, ideally along with an industry advisor who is expected to have a domain knowledge in the selected sector. The course is spread over two semesters. In semester 1, the student is expected to identify project, carry out a comprehensive literature review to identify the gap, and subsequently aim and objectives, and write the proposal along with the research methodology whereas the student will be developing the proposal project by following the research methodology defined. The student is then required to submit a final thesis documenting the research and defend the work in front of a committee

Through a combination of theoretical frameworks and practical experience, participants will acquire expertise in implementing digital transformation initiatives, managing change, and measuring the success of technology-driven projects. The course examines ethical considerations, cybersecurity challenges, and sustainability within the framework of digital transformation.
