SIFHAMS Director, Professor Mesut Idriz, presented a scholarly paper at the internationally renowned conference “URBAN FUTURES – CULTURAL PASTS: Sustainable Cities, Cultures & Crafts,” co-organized by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in Barcelona, Spain.
In his presentation titled “Ottoman Era Manastir (Bitola),” Professor Idriz examined the historical and cultural significance of the city during the Ottoman period, highlighting the importance of socio-cultural and religious tolerance within the historiography of Muslim history and Islamic civilization, with particular reference to the Balkans.
The presentation attracted considerable interest from an international audience, generating an engaging discussion and strong appreciation for the topic’s relevance to contemporary studies in cultural heritage and intercultural relations.
