PROFESSOR MESUT IDRIZ DELIVERED A KEYNOTE LECTURE IN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE FUTURE OF CIVILIZATION"
Professor Dr. Mesut Idriz, Director of the Sharjah International Foundation for the History of Arab and Muslim Sciences (SIFHAMS), delivered a keynote lecture at the International Conference titled “What is Civilization? Envisioning the Future of Humanity,” held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from 4–6 October 2024.
The conference was organized by the Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Hong Kong, in collaboration with the Asian Institute for Advanced Research in Kathmandu, Nepal; the Centre for Studies in Science and Humanities at Beijing Normal University, China; and the Center on Modernity in Transition, USA. The event was also sponsored by the Institute for Global Civilization.
The conference brought together a distinguished group of scholars and experts from around the world to discuss contemporary civilizational and intellectual issues from diverse perspectives.
Professor Idriz’s presentation was entitled “The Nexus of Islamic Civilization: Change, Development, and Progress as Constituent Elements in the Correlation between the Concepts of Dīn and Madaniyyah,” in which he offered an analytical perspective on the evolution of Islamic civilization and its conceptual foundations.
