Degree Overview:
The Postgraduate Diploma in Ultrasound Technology Applications (PGDUS) is a unique program, designed to address unmet needs of the Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBG) specialist and consultants to equip them with the core knowledge and skills in using ultrasound technology during pregnancy and interpreting fetal ultrasound images as well as US images of female reproductive pathologies. This program targets OBG specialists practicing in UAE and the region. It is based on best international and regional practice in similar programs. It takes into consideration the requirements to develop and update OBG skills in the discipline. The past practices in Sharjah clinical training center gave us excellent feedback on how to design an effective program in terms of the scientific and training content. The PGDUS program is modular structure comprising nine modules and a comprehensive assessment of knowledge, skills and professionalism. The faculty are renowned international and national fetal medicine and imaging specialists.

Target audience:
This program is intended for MBBS Doctors and its equivalent with minimum two years OBG experience.
Program Goals:
The program goals are to help students to:
Gain Comprehensive understanding of ultrasound wave properties, ultrasound propagation and attenuation in body tissue, ultrasonic transducers, and their beam properties.
Provide effective U/S practice for initial diagnosis in Obstetrics and Gynecology Patients.
Develop the skills to Use of probes, frequency in implement diagnostic guidelines in Clinical practice in alignment with the health system resources.
Aid diagnosis, assessment, and evaluation in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology sonography.
Program Learning Outcomes:
1- Interpret images produced by Transabdominal and Transvaginal U/S examination.
2- Differentiate between normal/abnormal gynecological U/S examination
3- Identify clearly the different pathology involved in the pelvic U/S examination
4- Perform complete U/S examination in all trimesters of pregnancy
5- Write a comprehensive Obstetrics U/S report in first and second trimesters of pregnancy
6- Perform complete Fetal anatomy scan in first and second trimesters of pregnancy
7- Identify fetal dysmorphology and what are the significance of their presence
8- Determine how and when to use Color Doppler in Obstetrics and Gynecology U/S examination
9- Identify the invasive procedures in fetal medicine
10- Describe the use of the 3D/4D U/S application in Obstetrics and Gynecology and perform intra-abdominal ultrasound (US in labor room).
