Course Rationale:
Mental health conditions and substance use disorders are commonly encountered across all healthcare settings, not only in psychiatric units. Nurses frequently manage patients presenting with anxiety, depression, agitation, substance withdrawal, intoxication, and dual diagnoses. This integrated course equips nurses with essential assessment, communication, safety, and management skills to provide compassionate, ethical, and evidence-based care while reducing stigma and improving patient outcomes.
Course Aim:
To equip healthcare professional and senior nursing students with practical knowledge, clinical judgment, and communication skills to safely assess and manage patients with mental health and addiction-related conditions.
