The University of Sharjah (UoS) has signed an Agreement of Cooperation with Rafid Vehicle Solutions aimed at strengthening scientific research through the exchange of specialized vehicle-related data and supporting academic studies that serve the community and key sectors across the United Arab Emirates.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies at the University of Sharjah, and Mr. Ahmed Juma Al Mashrekh, Director General of Rafid Vehicle Solutions. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Salah Taher Al Haj, UoS Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, along with senior officials and specialists from both institutions.
Under the terms of the agreement, Rafid will provide the University of Sharjah with relevant data and statistics to support specialized research projects, while maintaining direct coordination with researchers to ensure that information is delivered accurately and effectively. In addition, UoS will use the data exclusively for scientific research, acknowledge Rafid’s contribution in any resulting publications, and share final research outcomes to promote knowledge exchange.
Commenting on the agreement, Prof. Bettayeb said the partnership reflects the University’s commitment to promoting applied research and institutional collaboration that delivers tangible benefits to society. He noted that access to real-world data from public and private sector partners enables researchers to draw on reliable sources that enrich academic outcomes and drive innovation, particularly in areas such as traffic services and digital transformation.
Speaking to the attendees, Dr. Salah Taher Al Haj said the agreement reinforces the University of Sharjah’s community-centered mission and highlights the value of collaboration between academic institutions and vital service sectors. He added that such partnerships help build a knowledge-based environment that supports sustainable development and enhances the university’s ability to deliver initiatives and projects that respond to future societal needs.
For his part, Mr. Ahmed Juma Al Mashrekh said the partnership embodies Rafid’s firm commitment to supporting the research ecosystem by providing specialized data that allows researchers to develop advanced studies capable of improving the transport sector and boosting operational efficiency. He emphasized that integration between industry and academia is essential to creating future-focused solutions that improve quality of life, enhance services, and support the development agendas of Sharjah and the UAE. He described the agreement as a meaningful step toward building robust research knowledge that can be translated into practical projects and real-world applications that benefit society and the national economy.
The agreement is expected to strengthen integration between educational institutions and service sectors, giving researchers access to accurate data that supports the development of practical solutions in mobility, safety, and service quality. The partnership aligns with Sharjah’s and the UAE’s vision for a sustainable, knowledge-driven future.
