University of Sharjah Signs MoU with Haleon to Boost Pharmacy Students’ Training Opportunities and Employability
The University of Sharjah (UoS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Haleon UK Export Limited to strengthen academic and professional collaboration in pharmaceutical sciences and industry. The agreement establishes a strategic partnership aimed at providing students and graduates of the College of Pharmacy with practical training and employment opportunities, while also supporting scientific conferences and specialized workshops.
Under the MoU, Haleon will offer a six‑month annual training program for selected students and graduates from the College of Pharmacy. The company will also participate in career fairs and provide part‑time or full‑time employment opportunities based on its needs. The partnership underscores both parties’ commitment to advancing education and research, and to creating an innovative learning environment aligned with global developments in the pharmaceutical sector.
The agreement was signed by Professor Mohammed Al‑Jammal, Acting Dean of the College of Pharmacy, on behalf of the University of Sharjah, and Mr. Arda Arat, General Manager for the Gulf and Near East at Haleon. As part of the agreement, Haleon will support the University’s academic and scientific activities, sponsor conferences, seminars, and workshops, and collaborate on enriching the curriculum with practical insights from the pharmaceutical industry.
During the signing ceremony, both parties highlighted the importance of this collaboration as part of the University of Sharjah’s strategy to strengthen ties with the industrial sector specifically seeking to forge partnerships that would enhance its students’ educational experience and connect it directly to labor market needs. Meanwhhile, Haleon reaffirmed its dedication to nurturing national talent and preparing a new generation of pharmacists equipped with both academic and practical expertise.
The signing was attended by Dr. Eman Saad, Vice Dean of the College, Dr. Farah Dagistani, Senior Clinical Instructor, and Mr. Ahmed Hafez, Haleon’s Legal Director for the Middle East and North Africa.
