In collaboration with the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation University of Sharjah Organizes Emirates Nuclear and Radiation Academy Ambassadors Workshop
The University of Sharjah (UoS), through the Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering at the College of Engineering, organized the Emirates Nuclear and Radiation Academy (ENRA) Ambassadors Workshop in collaboration with the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR). The workshop aimed to provide a unique opportunity for students to broaden their knowledge of nuclear energy, radiation safety, and leadership, as well as to explore how the ENRA Ambassadors Program can support their professional development.
Dr. Bassam Khuwaileh, Associate Professor at the College of Engineering and Coordinator of the Nuclear Engineering Program at the University of Sharjah, welcomed the participants and explained that the ENRA Ambassadors Program is the first of its kind in the UAE. He noted that the program, a joint collaboration between the University and the Authority, aims to prepare young people to raise public awareness about nuclear energy and its applications within the university community and beyond, in line with the UAE’s national vision.
He added that the workshop featured hands-on applications and exercises designed to enhance participants’ communication skills, as well as to introduce them to the Academy’s platform, which includes a range of specialized training and media materials aimed at promoting awareness in the fields of nuclear energy and radiation. The program also included brainstorming sessions to propose innovative and effective solutions that enhance the platform’s efficiency and its impact on society.
For her part, Wardah Isaacs, Manager of Operations Training at the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation, expressed her sincere gratitude to the University of Sharjah for its partnership in advancing nuclear education. She emphasized that ENRA Ambassadors serve as a bridge between cutting-edge nuclear education and students who may join the ENRA Ambassadors Program, inspiring them to seize the opportunity to become Ambassadors themselves.
She added: “The ENRA e-Learning Platform offers seven comprehensive courses in nuclear science and radiation safety. During the workshop, participants were introduced in depth to the ENRA platform through hands-on activities designed to sharpen communication skills, encourage creative thinking about expanding ENRA’s reach, open doors to career opportunities in one of the fastest-growing sectors in the UAE, and contribute to a workforce that will power our nation’s clean energy future.” The workshop was attended by university faculty members and students, as well as Ms. Shaima Al Mansoori, Director of Education and Training at the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation.
