Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, President of the University of Sharjah, UoS is making intensive preparations to host the Arab-German Conference on Science and Humanities. The event is scheduled to take place from November 17 to 20, 2025, featuring a distinguished assembly of researchers and academics from over 40 Arab and German universities and research institutions. The conference is organized in collaboration with the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA), with the University of Khorfakkan hosting activities on the third day. The conference is also supported by numerous local and international universities and research institutions such as the United Arab Emirates University, Sultan Qaboos University, Cambridge University, Technical University of Munich, and Cairo University.

The conference aims to strengthen Arab-German research collaboration and open new avenues for scientific partnerships between universities and research centers across the Arab world and Germany in several diverse fields including health sciences, innovation, technology and space, sustainable smart cities, and social and human sciences. A key focus of the event is empowering young researchers to build sustainable collaboration networks and share expertise in carefully chosen disciplines addressing shared research challenges.

Experts, specialists, university presidents from the UAE and Germany, and young researchers from across the Arab countries will participate alongside representatives from international organizations such as UNESCO and the World Bank. Prominent speakers in the event include Prof. Thomas Silveira from Harvard University, Prof. Claudia Derichs from Humboldt University in Germany, Dr. Gina El Feki, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in Egypt, Dr. Bassam Alam Eldin, Director of the American University of Ras Al Khaimah, Dr. Mohamed Yahya, representative of Mauritania’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Erik Hansalik representing the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space.

The four-day conference will also feature scientific sessions and interactive workshops that will tackle critical themes such as water as a central topic, the role of higher education institutions in building effective international partnerships, innovation in space exploration, and how universities contribute to sustainable development. The event serves as a strategic international platform promoting dialogue between young Arab and German scientists and fostering joint research projects that support sustainable development and knowledge exchange.

Headquartered in Berlin, AGYA serves as a bridge connecting young Arab researchers and academic institutions in Germany. The organization also holds a regional office in Egypt and a soon-to-be inaugurated office at the University of Sharjah to coordinate activities within the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
