UoS and APC Celebrates Graduation of 77 Members of APC’s Professional Diploma

The University of Sharjah (UoS) and the Arab Parliament for the Child (APC) celebrated the graduation of 77 members and supervisors of the APC’s professional diploma, which was developed by the Sharjah Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development at the UoS, with a total of 110 training hours for trainees representing 17 Arab countries.

The ceremony was opened by His Excellency Ayman Othman Al Barout, Secretary-General of the Arab Parliament for the Child (APC), who stressed the importance of this program which comes within the framework of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and Founder of the University of Sharjah, to qualify the children of the Arab World in the field of parliamentary work and broaden their perceptions to be active members in the future. Concluding his statement, he thanked the University of Sharjah, the Chancellor, experts and specialists on their great effort in making the activities of the APC’s diploma a success.

The “Arab Parliament Diploma for Children for Parliamentary Work Skills”, an advanced level which addressed several scientific axes that focused on developing general skills including: science, artificial intelligence applications, communication skills with the media, besides raising the research and parliamentary capabilities of the children and promoting parliamentary culture. While the “Diploma for Developing the Skills of Supervisory and Leadership Teams” focused on the development of leadership and problem-solving skills, in addition to parliamentary skills, including ethics Parliamentary work, parliamentary etiquette and protocols, writing parliamentary reports, oversight work, managing parliamentary tasks and parliamentary committee management skills.

For his part, His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah (UoS) welcomed the representative of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Her Excellency Khawla Abdulrahman Al Mulla, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, as well as welcomed His Excellency Ayman Othman Al Barout, Secretary-General of the APC, as he said: ” I’m honored to express, in my name, on behalf of you all and in the name of UoS’s employees, the highest appreciation, thanks and gratitude to His Highness Skeikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and Founder of the University of Sharjah, for caring about the people of the nation and for his generous sponsorship of the establishment of the Arab Children Parliament, where he agreed to host all member states of the Arab League in Sharjah, in addition to the support and directives of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah.

At the end of his speech, the Chancellor of the UoS thanked everyone who contributed to the implementation and preparation of APC’s diploma and training programs including experts from the UoS and other universities, as well as administrative staff especially Prof. Dr. Radi Al Zubaidi, Director of the Centre for Continuing Education and Professional Development. Meanwhile, he congratulated the graduates, wishing them success in the next stages of their lives. Kenzi Muhammad, a graduate of the APC’s diploma, from the Arab Republic of Egypt, delivered a speech on behalf of her colleagues, where she praised the role of the UoS in offering the best educational experience for trainees, wishing the graduates continued excellence and success.

At the end of the ceremony, male and female members of the APC have been honored, in addition to honoring the Consultative Council of Sharjah, lecturers, delegations of Arab countries, the League of Arab States (LAS), Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation and General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, as well as honoring a number of institutes, departments and bodies in the Emirate of Sharjah, who played a significant role in receiving and hosting delegations from Arab countries and in organizing activities of the closing ceremony.
