University of Sharjah Signs MoUs to Enhance Government Excellence in the UAE
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, witnessed this Wednesday the signing of several memoranda of understanding under the “Knowledge Partnerships for Government Excellence and Performance” program. The agreements aim to launch programs that would qualify and prepare specialists in the field of government excellence as part of the UAE Government Annual Meetings 2025, held in Abu Dhabi.
Through these strategic partnerships, the Prime Minister’s Office signed MoUs with several leading academic and professional institutions, including the University of Sharjah, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy, the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Program, and Rabdan Academy. In addition, a joint working document was established with the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources and the UAE Government Leaders Program to support the implementation of the initiative.
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi affirmed that the University of Sharjah’s participation in the Knowledge Partnerships Program reflects the University’s firm commitment to supporting national efforts to advance the government excellence system. He emphasized that the agreement represents a strategic step toward developing national capabilities based on the highest professional and scientific standards, promoting a culture of quality and innovation, and nurturing future leaders capable of driving improvement and progress across all sectors.
His Highness also noted that the “Certified Government Excellence Assessor: Individual Evaluation” program marks a significant milestone in building national expertise in institutional and individual performance evaluation, aligning with the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Program. He reiterated UoS’s dedication to being an active partner in supporting the UAE’s ambitious national agendas by fostering integration between academic institutions, government entities, and the private sector to achieve sustainable development and enhance government services to global standards.
Under the MoUs, all parties will collaborate to develop and deliver training programs such as the Certified Government Excellence Assessor, which will prepare participants from federal, local, and private institutions to serve as qualified assessors. The programs will train candidates to conduct evaluations based on recognized performance standards and evidence-based methodologies, producing professional feedback reports and transparent, impartial assessments aligned with the systems of the Sheikh Khalifa Program for Government Excellence.
On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi visited the Artificial Intelligence Experience Pavilion, held in conjunction with the UAE Government Annual Meetings 2025. His Highness reviewed several innovative technologies and AI applications presented by government entities that enhance operational efficiency, accelerate processes, and improve service quality. He was briefed on how AI integration contributes to developing smart governance models, boosting performance levels, and supporting the UAE’s digital transformation and future-ready government vision. His Highness also learned about recent AI-driven service developments that have improved accuracy, speed, and accessibility for the public, further demonstrating the growing role of innovation in reshaping government services across the country.
The signing ceremony was attended by Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Government Relations; Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Community Development; Sheikh Saud bin Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director General of the Sharjah Digital Office; His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Her Excellency Ohood bintKhalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future and Chairperson of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources; His Excellency Zaki Nusseibeh, Cultural Adviser to the UAE President and Board Member of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy; His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University; along with several senior officials and representatives of participating institutions.
