UoS Receives Delegation from Sharjah Women's Sports
As part of the University of Sharjah's (UoS) vision to enhance and strengthen its research collaboration with various local entities, Dr. Salah Taher Al-Haj, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, received Her Excellency Hanan Mohammed Al-Mahmoud, Vice Chairperson of Sharjah Women's Sports, and her accompanying delegation. The visit aimed to discuss cooperation in the field of research related to the development of athletic performance.
Dr. Salah Taher Al-Haj emphasized the role of the Community Affairs office in developing partnerships with local institutions that serve all sectors of the community. He provided an overview of the University and its achievements at local, regional, and international levels, particularly in research through UoS’s institutes and centers across various scientific disciplines. He also stressed the University's readiness to provide full support to the Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation.
For her part, Hanan Al Mahmoud delivered an overview of the Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation, a pioneering institution in advancing the role of female athletes in the United Arab Emirates and the region. She noted that the foundation has achieved outstanding achievement in various sports, making it an exemplary model for women's sports institutions in the region.
The two parties agreed to sign future joint memoranda of understanding, which will outline areas of cooperation in scientific research and studies related to women's sports, promote awareness of the importance of sports participation, and explore additional areas of collaboration.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Fakhir Al-Gharaibeh, Director of the Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences; Prof. Rabih Halwani, Director of the Research Institute of Medical and Health Sciences; and Malik Moh'd Mihdawi, Director of the Community Cooperation Office. Also in attendance from Sharjah Women's Sports were Dr. Mokhtar Shatara, Head of the Scientific Unit at the Scientific Center for Research and Sports Development and Vice President of the Scientific Council, and Mr. Mohammed Alhadai, Vice President of the Scientific Unit at the Scientific Center for Research and Sports Development.
