University of Sharjah and Ministry of Economy Forge Landmark Partnership to Boost Economic Research and Innovation
In a significant move to strengthen the nation’s economic landscape, the University of Sharjah and the Ministry of Economy have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding, paving the way for deeper collaboration in economic research, policy studies, and scientific innovation.
The agreement, inked by His Excellency Professor Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, and His Excellency Abdullah Al Saleh, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Economy, was formalized during the launch of the ministry’s Knowledge and Innovation Center. The event was attended by His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, alongside senior officials from the ministry and leaders from academic institutions across the country.
At the heart of this partnership lies a shared commitment to exchanging expertise on economic policies, legislation, and sector-specific knowledge. The memorandum aims to harness the best national and international practices to create an integrated knowledge network that will inform policy development, enhance the competitiveness of the UAE economy, and foster a dynamic business environment.
The agreement sets out a comprehensive framework for cooperation, including the implementation of joint initiatives in economic research and public policy, the promotion of a culture of innovation and intellectual property, and robust support for students and graduates in entrepreneurship. Training programs and hands-on employment opportunities will further empower the next generation of Emirati talent.
Additionally, the memorandum calls for the exchange of data and information to bolster research across economic sectors, and for collaboration in organizing workshops and roundtable discussions to facilitate knowledge-sharing on economic studies and policy matters. Both parties also pledged to support the translation of research findings into practical applications, the development of academic and executive programs, and the promotion of entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity within the broader community.
