The University of Sharjah (UoS) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Gulf Drug LLC to strengthen academic and professional collaboration in medical and health-related fields, with a particular focus on pharmacy automation and digital pharmacy. The memorandum was signed on behalf of the University by Dr. Salah Taher Al Haj, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, and on behalf of Gulf Drug by David Mazhar, General Manager, in the presence of representatives from both organizations.

The agreement will support training opportunities for students in the University’s College of Pharmacy and help develop their practical skills in technologies reshaping pharmacy practice. Furthermore, under the agreement, the two parties will cooperate to provide practical training opportunities for students and organize specialized seminars, workshops and lectures aimed at strengthening their professional skills. They will also draw on their shared expertise to support the development of relevant academic courses. A central feature of the collaboration will be the establishment of an advanced pharmacy simulation laboratory equipped with pharmacy-automation and digital technologies. The laboratory will provide students and faculty members with opportunities to explore these tools and gain hands-on experience in an educational setting designed to reflect the realities of contemporary pharmacy practice.

Attending the signing from the University were Prof. Karim El-Zu’bi, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, along with a number of academic and administrative staff members. Mohammed Othman, Senior Pharmacy Automation Sales Specialist, attended on behalf of Gulf Drug LLC.
