A group of University of Sharjah students took part in an interactive dialogue organized by the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), bringing their perspectives on sustainability, innovation and humanitarian action to one of the region’s leading development gatherings.

The session, titled “Youth as a Force Multiplier: Driving Impact From Local Communities to Global Challenges,” was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre on the sidelines of the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition, known as DIHAD. The discussion examined the central role young people can play in promoting humanitarian action and addressing urgent global challenges. Participants explored food security, sustainable development, innovation and ways to build more resilient communities in times of crisis. The session brought together representatives of United Nations agencies, humanitarian leaders and young changemakers.

University of Sharjah students actively contributed to the conversation, drawing on their interests and expertise in sustainability, public policy, international relations and innovation. They shared ideas about how academic knowledge and scientific research can be translated into practical solutions to combat hunger and generate measurable humanitarian and development impact.

Participation in this event reflects the University of Sharjah’s strategy to empower students, develop a new generation of future leaders and connect learning outcomes with the world’s most pressing challenges. It also supports the University’s efforts to deepen cooperation with leading international organizations, including the World Food Program, in joint research, innovation, knowledge exchange and initiatives that advance humanitarian and development work.

For participating students, the event offered an opportunity to learn more about organizations working in humanitarian relief, development and community support. They also gained insight into the initiatives, responsibilities and field experience of institutions working to help communities respond to humanitarian crises.

DIHAD is widely regarded as a leading regional platform for discussion of humanitarian relief and development. Each year, it brings together policymakers, experts and international organizations to exchange best practices, build partnerships and showcase emerging technologies and solutions designed to support communities affected by crises around the world.
