University of Sharjah Participates in the Second International Symposium of the UNESCO Chair on Science Diplomacy and Scientific Heritage in Mexico
As part of the cooperation agreement between the University of Sharjah (UoS) and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), a delegation of faculty members and researchers from the University of Sharjah participated in the Second International Symposium of the UNESCO Chair on Science Diplomacy and Scientific Heritage. The symposium was hosted by UNAM over three days under the theme, “Scientific Heritage: The Legacy of Nations”.
During the opening session, attended by H.E. Salem Rashid Al Owais, UAE Ambassador to Mexico, Prof. Masoud Idris, Director of the Sharjah International Foundation for the History of Arab and Muslim Sciences (SIFHAMS) at the University of Sharjah, delivered a keynote lecture titled, “Understanding Knowledge and Wisdom in Islamic Thought.” Prof. Idris also presented a research paper on the second day titled, “Science, Culture, and Identity: Perspectives from the Global South.”
Faculty members and PhD students from the University of Sharjah actively contributed to the symposium's scientific sessions:
- Dr. Mohammed Ali from the College of Public Policy and Dr. Noora Nasser Alkarbi, Head of Community Relations for Scientific Research, participated in the second day's third session titled, “Human Rights, Culture, and Education,”
- Mahboubah Abdulrahman from the College of Communication and Abdelqader Ibrahim from the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences took part in the hybrid session on the final day, titled, “Perspectives on Science and Culture in Public Diplomacy.”
The University of Sharjah's delegation made a significant impact, showcasing their expertise and contributing valuable insights during the symposium's various sessions.
