University of Sharjah Hosts the Architectural Engineering Annual Exhibition 2026
The Architectural Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, University of Sharjah (UoS), organized the Architectural Engineering Annual Exhibition (AEAE 2026), inaugurated by His Excellency Professor Esameldin Agamy, in the presence of Professor Abdul Wahab bin Mohammad, Dean of the College of Engineering, and Professor Emad Mushtaha, Chair of the Architectural Engineering Department. Along with members of the department's advisory board The opening ceremony celebrated creativity, scholarship, and architectural innovation, bringing together faculty members, students, and guests to witness a remarkable showcase of academic excellence.
The exhibition featured 50 of the finest student projects selected from across all design courses, reflecting the depth and breadth of the Department’s academic journey. Visitors were guided through a carefully curated progression of work, beginning with the fundamentals of architectural design—where form, space, and simple functions are first explored—and advancing toward increasingly complex functional programs. As the journey unfolds, projects reveal sophisticated construction details, structural ingenuity, and innovative technical solutions that embody both precision and imagination. Professor Emad Mushtaha emphasized that this year’s projects are distinguished by their extensive use of artificial intelligence applications at various stages of the design process. This approach contributes to achieving the highest standards of sustainability and enhancing quality of life by creating smart buildings that reduce energy consumption and lower carbon emissions, aligning with global trends toward carbon neutrality and environmental preservation.
The showcased projects range from designs for family residences, hotels, shopping and entertainment centers, cultural centers, mosques, and tourist resorts to multi-story residential buildings, initiatives aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions, and innovative designs for outer space.
The exhibition also highlighted projects focused on the development of Islamic architectural design, integrating heritage elements with advanced technologies. These designs emphasized the use of sustainable materials and cutting-edge solutions that enhance buildings’ adaptability to climate change.
In addition, a series of distinguished design awards were presented, including the Bus Shelter Design Award, the Public Library in Sharjah Award, and the international competition award for the House of the Future 2024/2025. These accolades further underscore the Department’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and community engagement.
AEAE 2026 marks the culmination of a distinguished academic journey, reflecting the high level of professional training received by architectural engineering students at the University of Sharjah and their readiness to contribute meaningfully to the built environment both locally and globally.
