University of Sharjah Hosts Orientation Session for New Students
The University of Sharjah kicked off the academic year with a vibrant orientation session for new students, designed to immerse them in campus life from day one while strengthening its ties with their families. In attendance were H.E. Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, Dr. Amina Almarzooqi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, deans, faculty, staff, and parents.
The event opened with the UAE national anthem, followed by H.E. Prof. Esamledin Agamy’s warm welcome to the new students and their families. In his speech, he hailed the University as a modal comprehensive environment that blends rigorous academics with diverse sports, cultural, and social extracurriculars that help students uncover their talents and hone their various skills. Highlighting the campus's multicultural community, he noted how this aspect of the UoS fosters the students’ effective communication and teamwork skills in a multinational context. He added that the University’s recent stellar national and international rankings enable UoS graduates to secure employment or places in graduate programs worldwide. Prof. Agamy also highlighted that the University of Sharjah currently offers 152 undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Urging students to seize the moment and engage fully, he wished them an exhilarating journey brimming with achievements and excellence.
Addressing the attendees, Dr. Almarzooqi stressed the family’s vital role as the students’ steadfast partners in navigating student life, decisions, and hurdles. She dispensed practical advice to the students instructing them to adhere to university rules which were established for their own protection, uphold academic integrity, attend classes diligently, treat peers and staff with respect, embrace discipline and moral values, balance duty with ambition, and never hesitate to seek help.
During the session, the attendees watched two introductory videos which showcased student life, top-tier facilities, services, and activities at UoS, in addition to key support offerings from the student services department.
