University of Sharjah Hosts Forum on Digital Transformation in Higher Education

The Deanship of Student Affairs-Women at the University of Sharjah organized the Universities Forum on Digital Transformation, bringing together several higher education institutions from across the UAE to explore key developments in digital education and innovation. The forum served as an interactive platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences on advancing digital transformation within university environments.

Participating institutions included the United Arab Emirates University, Al Qasimia University, Khorfakkan University, and Kalba University. Their representatives discussed current trends in digitalization, shared successful models of digital integration, and highlighted strategies for promoting innovation in teaching and student engagement.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Salama Al Rahoumi, Dean of Student Affairs-Women, reaffirmed the University of Sharjah’s commitment to empowering students through forward-looking initiatives that hone their academic and digital skills. She also stressed the importance of employing modern technologies and artificial intelligence to improve students’ educational experience and foster collaboration among universities across the UAE.

The forum comprised two panel discussions. The first session addressed the role of emerging technologies in the development of education and student services, featuring presentations by students Eman Abdulaziz, Amina Al Naqbi, Somaya Al Darmaki, Asma Adam, and Sarah Obeid Al Naqbi. The participants shared their universities’ experiences with digital transformation and identified best practices that support a more efficient, technology-driven academic environment.

The second session focused on artificial intelligence and its applications in supporting student learning and research. Students Mouza Al Mazroui, Rowan Waleed, Amina Al Kindi, Noor Mohammed, and Sheikha Yousef Al Zaabi discussed how AI can facilitate independent learning, advance research capabilities, and improve students’ academic performance. They also explored the prospects and challenges associated with developing AI-based learning tools and improving digital competencies.
