University of Sharjah Celebrates Kuwait’s 64th National Day
The University of Sharjah’s annual series of cultural events celebrating its diverse communities included a special event marking Kuwait’s 64th National Day on February 25. The event was organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs organized a celebration in collaboration with the Kuwaiti Cultural Club.
The opening ceremony of the event was attended by His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah; His Excellency Khalid Abdulrahim Al-Zaabi, Consul General of the State of Kuwait in Dubai and the Northern Emirates; Dr. Amina Al-Marzouqi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs; Prof. Eid Kanaan, Dean of Student Affairs; alongside several deans, faculty members, administrative staff, and students.
The event commenced with a rendition by a UoS student of the national anthems of the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. This was followed by a speech by Balqees Jaber representing the Kuwaiti Cultural Club. The program continued with a musical performance titled Sinbad the Sailor: Our Beautiful Land and a poetry recital in tribute to Kuwait by students Reem Jassim Al-Hammadi and Maitha Khaled. Students from Al-Ahliya Private School enthralled the audience with a series of traditional dances and artistic performances, which was followed by a short play that focused on Kuwait’s rich heritage and modern development performed by a group of UoS students.
Concluding the celebration, the His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy honored the Kuwaiti Consul General and recognized the efforts of the participants and organizers.
