The University of Sharjah (UoS) and the Association of Corporate Counsel for the Middle East and North Africa (ACC MENA) have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at supporting the professional and academic development of in-house counsel and law students across the region. The agreement was signed on October 20, 2026, by Dr. Salah Taher Al-Haj, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs at the University of Sharjah, and Ms. Maria Skalin, President of the Association of Corporate Counsel for the Middle East and North Africa.
Under the agreement, the two parties will collaborate on developing and delivering specialized educational programs and training workshops covering key areas of legal practice, including corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, employment law, and intellectual property rights. The partnership also provides for the exchange of academic and professional expertise, with ACC MENA members invited to speak at university events and UoS faculty invited to participate in the association’s conferences and forums.
The agreement further establishes a framework for cooperation on research projects and studies related to the in-house legal profession and its evolving landscape. University of Sharjah law students will benefit from access to ACC MENA events with up to five complimentary admissions per year as well as career development resources, including job postings and professional networking opportunities with legal experts and institutions.
The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Adnan Sarhan, Dean of the College of Law; Dr. Shadi Al-Shdifat, Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies; and Dr. Ahmad Al-Shaqanqiri, a member of the ACC MENA Board of Directors.
