The University of Sharjah Hosts the Republic of Moldova at the Spark 18 Graduation Exhibition and Film Festival

The University of Sharjah recently hosted the Republic of Moldova as the guest of honor of the College of Communication’s annual Spark 18 Graduation Exhibition And Student Film Festival. Held under the banner of Media Pioneers from Idea to Startup, the event showcased the next generation of creative talent. The exhibition was inaugurated by University of Sharjah Chancellor H.E. Prof. Esameldin Agamy with the Republic of Moldova Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, H.E. Anatol Vangheli, in attendance. More than eighty students presented diverse projects that highlighted their professional acumen in digital design and creative thinking, effectively demonstrating their readiness to lead in a rapidly evolving media landscape.

Students from the public relations department introduced a series of strategic initiatives designed to address modern digital challenges. Among the highlights was Reputation Guard, a project functioning as a dedicated operations center to protect digital reputations and manage crises for small and medium enterprises. Another notable entry, the Impact public relations firm, focused on transforming conceptual ideas into influential visual identities that strengthen the market presence of emerging startups. The department also championed social awareness through campaigns such as Etizan (Eng. Equilibrium), which promotes embracing balance in behavior and mindful communication, and Attention is a Responsibility, which combats the spread of misinformation through targeted webinars and training workshops. Further contributions included a project for the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Together for Better Mental Health campaign, which aims to dismantle misconceptions surrounding psychological well-being.

The mass communication department impressed the audience with a selection of sophisticated visual works. Students developed a comprehensive a three hundred-sixty-degree virtual tour, allowing users to explore college facilities through smartphones and virtual reality headsets. The film Behind the Screen offered a profound look at the complexities of digital addiction and the necessity of distinguishing between virtual interactions and authentic lived experiences. Sustainability and heritage also took center stage in the film Silent Harvest, which documented the life of local farmers with a cinematic flair that celebrated both the natural beauty of the region and the enduring tradition of Emirati hospitality. The festival featured more than twenty-eight documentaries and short films, all vetted by specialized academic committees.

This impressive collection underscores the College of Communication’s commitment to fostering an environment where creative potential meets the rigorous demands of the labor market, ensuring graduates emerge with both the technical skills and the enlightened vision required to succeed in their careers.
