Sultan bin Ahmed Witnesses UoS Spring 2026 Graduation Ceremony
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UoS), attended the University’s Spring 2026 bachelor’s degree graduation ceremony on Sunday morning at Sharjah University City Hall.
The ceremony commenced with the UAE national anthem, followed by a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. H.E. Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, then delivered a speech in which he expressed his gratitude and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi for honoring the graduation ceremony and recognizing the graduates.
Prof. Agamy highlighted the depth of training and preparation students receive at the University of Sharjah, emphasizing the value of intellectual exchange and cultural diversity on campus. With students representing around 100 nationalities, he described this environment as one of the most demanding and rewarding aspects of the university experience.
He noted that the world awaiting graduates is not only seeking technical expertise, but also the ability to collaborate across differences. “The world you are entering does not look only for those who master their fields,” he said. “It looks for those who know how to work with people who are not like them, and to produce together what they could not achieve alone. This is a skill that cannot be bought or inherited. It is one that every graduate of the University of Sharjah has developed and refined, united by a shared purpose: to build a society that is more capable of generating good, and more humane in how that good is shared.”
Agamy also pointed to the University’s growing international standing across a range of disciplines, citing its performance in the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject. The University of Sharjah ranked among the top institutions nationally in several fields, with petroleum engineering placed among the world’s top 100 programs, and chemical engineering as well as electrical and electronic engineering ranked among the top 200 globally.
Beyond academic excellence, Agamy noted the University’s achievements in athletics, where it was awarded the 2026 Sports Excellence Shield, underscoring its commitment to developing well-rounded graduates. “Your university produces champions on the field just as it produces leaders and scholars across every domain,” he said.
Prof. Agamy remarked that the University’s diversity in disciplines and cultures is no accident, but the result of a deliberate vision set by its founder, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, and Ruler of Sharjah. Long before the campus brought together students from around 100 nationalities, His Highness chose for it the motto “Where Civilizations Meet,” grounded in the belief that no single mind or field can build a civilization alone.
Agamy added that His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University, has carried this vision forward, strengthening its foundations and guiding the University to secure a place among the world’s leading institutions in cultural diversity. He extended his congratulations to the graduates, their families, and UoS faculty and administration, acknowledging their collective dedication and sustained effort in advancing the journey of knowledge and learning.
In closing, Agamy urged graduates to approach their professional lives with diligence, collaboration, and commitment, calling on them to reflect in their work the values and disciplines they have embraced. He emphasized that their diverse specializations are not ends in themselves, but contributions to the broader project of serving human civilization.
On behalf of his fellow graduates, Thani Juma Khamis Al Shehi from the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences delivered a speech in which he expressed gratitude and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, for making education a cornerstone of development and progress, and for establishing the University of Sharjah as a beacon of knowledge and learning and a source of inspiration for generations. He also thanked His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi for his continued support for the University’s journey and his unwavering commitment to providing a stimulating educational environment that enables students to excel, innovate, and realize their full potential.
Mr. Al Shehi also expressed his thanks and appreciation to parents for their care and unwavering support throughout the students’ academic journeys. He highlighted the significant attention the University of Sharjah gives to all its students, particularly those with disabilities, for whom the university has created an inclusive academic environment and provided services and resources that facilitate learning and open pathways to success.
Concluding his speech, Al Shehi congratulated his fellow graduates and encouraged them to move forward with confidence on their professional and academic journeys, carrying with them the values of knowledge, hope, and dedication, and striving to give back to their nation and its wise leadership.
Following, Ahmed Salem Abdullah, a graduate of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, recited a poem that alluded to efforts to advancing education in the Emirate of Sharjah and underscored the importance of knowledge to the progress and development of nations and peoples.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi presented graduation certificates to 273 graduates from bachelor’s degree programs across the colleges of Sharia and Islamic Studies, Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering, Law, Fine Arts and Design, Communication, Sciences, Computing and Informatics, and Public Policy. His Highness congratulated the graduates on their achievement and wished them continued success and prosperity in their professional careers.
