His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, witnessed on Thursday the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the University of Sharjah (UoS) and University Hospital Sharjah (UHS). The agreement was signed at His Highness’s office at the University by Dr. Abdulaziz Saeed Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Sharjah Health Authority and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of University Hospital Sharjah, and H.E. Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah. It is intended to deepen the strategic partnership between the University and the hospital and establish a broader framework for collaboration in clinical training, research and workforce development.

Under the agreement, students in medical and health-related disciplines will receive clinical and practical training across the hospital’s departments. The training programs will be organized in accordance with university standards, helping students connect classroom learning with the realities of patient care. The partnership also provides for the selection of qualified hospital physicians and specialists to serve as adjunct clinical faculty members. Those appointed will receive academic titles in accordance with approved University regulations and will participate in supervising and evaluating students’ academic and clinical progress.

Additionally, the two institutions will pursue joint research projects, with the University making research resources available for shared initiatives. These resources include laboratories, tissue banks and data-analysis tools, creating a foundation for research that can move from clinical questions to practical solutions.

The agreement extends to professional development and continuing medical education programs for hospital employees. It also provides participating staff members with access to medical library services and enables the University to host scientific conferences and events organized by the hospital. In addition, the memorandum calls for the exchange of expertise and personnel, as well as the appointment of coordinators to monitor the quality of clinical training. It also includes educational benefits for eligible children of hospital employees and health-care benefits for University faculty and staff, subject to the terms and conditions set out in the agreement.
