His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, received graduates of the doctoral program in molecular medicine and clinical applications, offered jointly by the University of Sharjah and the University of Lübeck in Germany. The meeting, held at His Highness’s office at the University of Sharjah (UoS), celebrated the achievements of the graduates and the enduring academic partnership between the two institutions.

His Highness welcomed the graduates and praised their academic accomplishments, emphasizing that international academic partnerships strengthen the University’s position as a center for research and higher education. Such collaborations, he said, give doctoral students the opportunity to work in distinguished global research environments and engage directly with international scientific communities.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi encouraged the graduates to continue their research and scholarly pursuits, using their knowledge and expertise to serve their communities and contribute to scientific progress and sustainable development. He wished them continued success in their academic and professional careers.

In return, the graduates expressed their gratitude to His Highness for his support and for the University’s commitment to offering academic and research programs that develop students’ knowledge and practical capabilities. They also praised the opportunities created through scholarships and international partnerships, which allow students to study and conduct research at leading academic and research institutions abroad.

They said that their experience outside the United Arab Emirates had extended beyond specialized study and research. By engaging with students and researchers from different countries and cultures, they added, they had developed broader cultural awareness, stronger communication skills and a greater ability to work effectively in diverse international settings.

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi was briefed on the joint doctoral program, which is designed to boost higher education, biomedical research and scholarly exchange between the University of Sharjah and the University of Lübeck. The program is the result of a long-standing academic and research partnership that began in 2017. Its first cohort graduated in 2020, and 20 students have now completed the program since its launch.

Built around a joint-supervision model, the program enables students to pursue research under the guidance of principal investigators at both universities. Students divide their studies and research between the University of Sharjah and the University of Lübeck, while participating in regular scientific seminars, meetings, research discussions and progress-review sessions.
