Skills Without Borders: University of Sharjah Celebrates IAESTE Day 2025
Under the theme “Skills Without Borders,” the University of Sharjah celebrated IAESTE Day 2025, organized by the Career Advancement and Student Training Office (CASTO). The celebration brought together a diverse international community as His Excellency Prof. Esameldin Agami, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah (UoS), inaugurated the event alongside IAESTE trainees representing more than 15 countries, including Brazil, Tajikistan, Colombia, Spain, Mexico, the Czech Republic, Austria, Turkey, India, Serbia, Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Australia, and Thailand.
Throughout the day, international trainees showcased their research and professional projects through engaging poster presentations in fields such as engineering, science, medicine, business administration, and information technology. The event highlighted the University’s commitment to fostering global collaboration, cultural exchange, and technical excellence through international training opportunities.
A defining feature of the IAESTE program is its focus on hands-on, practical experience. Participants undergo training across various research institutes and centers within the University of Sharjah, including the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology (SAASST), as well as in partner institutions and organizations across the UAE. These opportunities empower students to enhance their technical, research, and intercultural competencies while learning in environments that emphasize innovation and academic excellence.
The IAESTE initiative serves as a bridge between education and the global workforce, offering students the opportunity to train in institutions, companies, and research centers both within the UAE and abroad. Through this exchange, participants engage in a meaningful journey of learning, discovery, and international collaboration.
The opening ceremony welcomed an esteemed lineup of university leaders, including Prof. Yousef Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies; Dr. Salah Taher Al Haj, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs; and Ms. Rana Kabbani, Director of CASTO, along with several deans, faculty members, and administrative staff.
