Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi Welcomes University of Sharjah’s Returning Scholars
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, President of the University of Sharjah, warmly greeted students who recently returned from overseas academic exchanges as part of the University’s Study Abroad program, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The event commenced with His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi celebrating the students’ completion of their assignments abroad, lauding their pursuit of academic and research excellence at prestigious international universities. He praised the students’ drive to expand their skills and knowledge, emphasizing that they are not just learners but also ambassadors of both the University of Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates. Representing their country in academic settings, he stressed, is both an honor and a great responsibility; one that demands upholding the highest academic and ethical standards.
His Highness also highlighted the transformative power of the Study Abroad initiative, describing it as a catalyst for honing scientific abilities and deepening strategic ties with leading international universities. These global partnerships, he said, not only raise the bar for higher education and research in the UAE but also enable students to build invaluable networks across cultural and academic boundaries.
His Highness stressed the vital role exchange students play in exploring other cultures, acquiring a breadth of life experiences, and serving as cultural ambassadors for the UAE, sharing its rich Arab and Islamic heritage with the wider world.
The meeting’s final moments saw a lively exchange of stories, as Sheikh Sultan listened intently to the students’ accounts of their time abroad: the academic triumphs, the challenges overcome, and the lessons learned across a diversity of disciplines. Their journeys, he noted, exemplify the resilience and ambition that define the University’s student body and the future of Emirati scholarship.
