Sharjah’s Deputy Ruler Honors the UoS’s Spring 2025 Female Graduates

His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah presided over the graduation ceremony for 566 female students from the spring 2025 bachelor’s class on Monday.

The ceremony began with the UAE national anthem and a recitation from the Holy Quran. Following, His Excellency Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University, delivered a heartfelt address, expressing gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi for his unwavering support and hands-on leadership. Prof. Agamy congratulated the graduates and their families, calling the day a harvest of labor made possible by the graduates’ dedication, their families’ encouragement, and the University’s commitment to their success. He also highlighted the significance of the occasion, noting that this ceremony marked the conclusion of the year’s graduation festivities.

Since its founding in 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, the University of Sharjah has seen more than 48,000 graduates take on leadership roles and contribute to the development of their communities both within the UAE and abroad. Impressively, women now make up 65% of the University’s student body and alumni, a testament to the pivotal role of women in the University’s journey and the broader fabric of society.

In his speech, Prof. Agamy further emphasized the University’s collaborative spirit, working closely with other higher education institutions under the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and federal ministries to advance the Sharjah’s and the nation’s vision. He underscored the University’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and global engagement, ensuring that its programs remain relevant and impactful in a rapidly changing world.

Turning to the graduates, Prof. Agamy praised their perseverance, ambition, and commitment to learning. He reminded them that graduation is not an endpoint but the beginning of a new chapter, one that calls for active participation in building the nation and uplifting society. He also acknowledged the vital roles these women will play as future mothers, educators, and guardians of values, stressing that a well-educated, enlightened mother is the cornerstone of a resilient and forward-looking generation. He then concluded by thanking the faculty for their dedication and mentorship, and wished the graduates continued success and fulfillment as they embark on their next journeys.

The ceremony’s centerpiece came with an address from Hafsa Abdel Nasser Omar, a graduate of the College of Engineering. She spoke of the joy and pride that filled the day, describing graduation as a milestone etched in memory through perseverance and hard work. Hafsa reminded her peers that every effort bears fruit, and every determined step leads to triumph, congratulating her fellow graduates for reaching this moment with victorious hearts and soaring spirits.

She expressed deep gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, and  Ruler of Sharjah, who she described as a patron of knowledge, education, and progress, and to the President of the University, whose vision and constant encouragement inspired students to dream big and achieve more. Hafsa also paid tribute to UoS faculty, recalling how their guidance extended beyond teaching to nurturing critical thinking and curiosity, opening doors to new horizons.

Acknowledging the crucial role of parents, Hafsa painted a vivid picture of mothers watching anxiously as their daughters took their first steps onto campus, and fathers offering steady support and encouragement. She thanked them for planting the seeds of ambition and nurturing them with love and prayers, dedicating the graduates’ achievements to their families as a source of pride and fulfillment.

Hafsa concluded by reflecting on the shared memories and bonds formed during their university years. She urged her fellow graduates to carry the university’s message wherever they go, not just as alumni, but as ambassadors of a promise fulfilled and a story that began with the birth of the nation. She called on them to be voices of knowledge in the face of ignorance, and beacons of values in uncertain times.

The ceremony concluded with His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi personally presenting degrees to graduates from all bachelor’s programs, including Sharia and Islamic Studies, Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering, Law, Fine Arts and Design, Communication, Sciences, Computing and Informatics, and Public Policy. He offered warm congratulations and best wishes to the graduates as they embark on their next chapters, poised to shape the future with knowledge, resilience, and purpose.
