Sharjah and Al Qasimia Universities Enter into an Agreement to Boost Academic and Research Collaboration
University of Sharjah and Al Qasimia University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening scientific cooperation, advancing research, and sharing expertise between the two institutions. The agreement reflects their shared commitment to enhancing the quality of education and supporting the growth of scholarly work.
The memorandum was signed at the University of Sharjah by His Excellency Professor Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, and His Excellency Professor Awad Al Khalaf, Chancellor of Al Qasimia University, in the presence of vice-chancellors, senior officials, and academics from both institutions.
Welcoming the Al Qasimia delegation, H.E. Professor Agamy described the collaboration as a natural outcome of two academic institutions united by a common vision and a noble mission to serve knowledge and scholarship; an ethos established by the founder of both universities, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. He emphasized that the partnership would open new horizons for academic and research cooperation, benefiting students and faculty alike, while reinforcing the universities’ commitment to excellence.
He also praised Al Qasimia University’s role in promoting authentic Islamic culture and embedding values of tolerance and moderation, noting its exceptional approach in hosting students from across the world with full support and hospitality which he described as a rare combination of academic and humanitarian generosity.
In his address to the attendees, H.E. Professor Al Khalaf referred to the University of Sharjah as the "mother university" and a benchmark institution for Al Qasimia University. He highlighted a decade of fruitful cooperation since Al Qasimia University’s establishment and framed the memorandum as a strategic step to structure and expand joint initiatives as Al Qasimia grows and evolves. Both universities, he noted, reflect the visionary leadership of their founder, offering modern, high-quality higher education while preserving their distinctive identities.
The agreement outlines collaboration in curriculum development, strategic studies on higher education, joint research projects, faculty exchanges, co-supervision of theses, and participation in organizing and attending conferences, workshops, training programs, and cultural and educational activities. It also includes reciprocal membership in scientific journal review and discussion committees and coordination to provide practical training opportunities for students.
