Sharjah Space and Astronomy Hub Brings the Moon and Saturn Closer to the Public

As part of its community programs to promote astronomical knowledge, the Sharjah Space and Astronomy Hub (SSAT), affiliated with the University of Sharjah, organized a stargazing event that gave the public and astronomy enthusiasts the opportunity to observe the Moon and Saturn through the telescopes of the Sharjah Astronomical Observatory.

The initiative was designed to share astronomical knowledge, provide hands-on scientific experiences, introduce different segments of society to space and astronomy, and encourage interested individuals and amateur astronomers to expand their knowledge and practice observational astronomy. It also allowed participants to benefit from the scientific and technical resources available at the academy.

The Sharjah Astronomical Observatory team provided the attendees with in-depth information about the Moon and Saturn, including their astronomical characteristics. The team also demonstrated how telescopes are used for observation and answered participants’ questions. Under the supervision of SSAH astronomical observation specialists, participants were also able to observe details of the lunar surface and view Saturn and its rings.

The event reflects SSAH’s commitment to strengthening direct engagement between the public and specialists and presenting astronomical knowledge in a way that combines scientific and practical elements. Organizers said the initiative helps simplify concepts related to space and astronomy and encourages members of the community to explore the sky, celestial phenomena, and astronomical objects.
