Sharjah Police and UoS Celebrate the Graduation of the First Cohort of Forensic Fingerprint Expert Diploma
Sharjah Police and the University of Sharjah (UoS) have marked the graduation of the first cohort of the professional diploma in forensic fingerprint expertise, the region’s first specialized training program dedicated to developing advanced skills in forensic fingerprint analysis. The graduation ceremony was attended by Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, and Prof. Yousef Al Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Sharjah. Also present were Brigadier Naji Mohammed Al Hammadi, Acting Director General of the General Department of Criminal Security and Ports, Dr, Asma Al Nuseiri, Director of the University’s Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development, senior officers from Sharjah Police, and academic staff.
The graduation of this cohort of diploma students comes as part of a strategic partnership between Sharjah Police and the University of Sharjah aimed at strengthening the emirate’s security infrastructure and developing nationally qualified professionals with both scientific and practical expertise.
The professional diploma, delivered by the University of Sharjah’s Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development, is a high-impact specialized program designed to enhance the capabilities of frontline police personnel. It focuses on the handling of forensic evidence and improving investigative efficiency through the use of the latest scientific tools and technologies for lifting, classifying, analyzing, and matching fingerprints in line with internationally recognized professional standards. The month-long program comprised 110 hours of intensive training and was led by experienced forensic fingerprint specialists. It combined theoretical instruction with hands-on application, as well as internationally benchmarked assessments in fingerprint analysis. Graduates of the program are trained to apply forensic fingerprint science with precision in support of delivering justice and achieving sustainable community safety.
Speaking at the ceremony, Brigadier Naji Al Hammadi praised the program for keeping pace with the latest practical developments in the field, highlighting the critical role played by forensic fingerprint experts in delivering justice. He emphasized that the profession demands exceptional accuracy, skill, and advanced technical expertise.
Dr Asma Al Nuseiri said the diploma reflects the University of Sharjah’s commitment to its applied and community-focused mission. She noted the university’s determination to align education and professional training with the needs of vital sectors in the country, particularly the security sector, through effective partnerships with national institutions.
The ceremony concluded with the honoring of graduates and the presentation of certificates. The graduates expressed pride in this academic milestone, affirming that the specialized knowledge and experience they gained will play a meaningful role in supporting the justice system and reinforcing security and stability across the community.
