University of Sharjah and Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services Celebrate Graduation of the “Professional Diploma in Leadership in Medical Education”

The University of Sharjah (UoS) celebrated the graduation of a group of participants from the Professional Diploma in Leadership in Medical Education, prepared and implemented by the Medical Education Center for the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services. The program is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of Dubai Ambulance paramedics, with the goal of contributing to improved emergency medical services in the region.

In his welcoming remarks, His Excellency Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, pointed out that this ceremony represents a model of partnership between higher education institutions and the healthcare services sector, and reflects a shared commitment to developing national competencies in the field of integrated healthcare. He further noted that higher education fulfills its true mission when it creates a tangible impact on society.

His Excellency added: “The program was not designed merely to transfer knowledge, but to reshape ways of thinking about education and leadership. What distinguishes this program is that it has prepared participants to become trainers for their peers. Therefore, the impact they will create will not be limited to themselves but will extend to everyone they teach and lead. At the University, we are committed to delivering education and training in line with community needs, supporting national priorities, and preparing cadres capable of addressing challenges with efficiency and responsibility. This is achieved through adopting best international practices and leveraging modern technologies in teaching and learning, thereby enhancing the quality of outcomes and ensuring the integration of theory and practice."

He concluded by expressing his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, for his continuous support, which has made the University a beacon that translates its vision into national programs and initiatives.

His Excellency, Mishal Abdul Karim Julfar, Executive Director of the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, expressed his pride in the fruitful partnership with the University of Sharjah, which he described as a leading national model for integrating knowledge with practical expertise. He emphasized that this collaboration contributes to preparing national cadres capable of leading transformation and development, while improving the quality of healthcare in the community in line with the highest international standards. His Excellency noted that the graduation of a group of leaders from the Corporation’s personnel represents a strategic step toward establishing a sustainable internal knowledge system that enhances the readiness of ambulance teams and supports continuous development and institutional performance improvement.

He added: “The emergency medicine sector is among the most vital sectors, given its direct role in saving lives and enhancing quality of life. This significantly increases our responsibility to prepare qualified professionals capable of making sound decisions in critical moments and leading teams effectively under a wide range of circumstances.”

He concluded: “We are confident in your capabilities and count on your role in creating a tangible positive impact that contributes to improving the quality of medical care and achieving the vision of your institution and your nation toward global leadership.”

Dr. Mohamed Hassan Taha, Director of the Medical Education Center and Coordinator of the diploma program, pointed out that the program is aligned with the strategic direction of the Medical Education Center and the recommendations of the advisory board for the MSc in Leadership in Health Professions Education. He explained that the program was jointly developed based on a thorough analysis of training needs, ensuring that the outcomes are aligned with the requirements of the emergency medical services work environment. He added that the participants demonstrated their ability to meet the demands of fieldwork and a strong commitment to learning, reflecting their readiness to take roles that require responsibility.

On behalf of the graduates, Manal Khamis Al Ali stated that the training program was not merely an educational phase but a comprehensive experience that refined their skills and enhanced their readiness for fieldwork with confidence. She added: “What we have gained today does not mark the end of the journey, but rather the beginning of a greater responsibility, in which we contribute to supporting and advancing the ambulance services system through commitment and continuous development.”
