University of Sharjah and Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services Sign a Memorandum of Understanding to Enhance Cooperation in Medical Education and Training
The University of Sharjah (UoS) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services. The agreement was signed by His Excellency Prof. Hamid M. K. Al-Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, and H.E. Mishaal Abdul Karim Jalfar, Executive Director of the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services.
The MoU aims to foster collaboration in the fields of medical education, training, and research activities of mutual interest, with a focus on benefiting the local community and exchanging scientific and medical expertise to enhance the quality of healthcare services. The memorandum outlines the development of joint educational and training programs designed to build the academic and leadership capacities of professionals working in emergency medicine and first aid. It includes the exchange of expertise between academics and specialists and participation in community activities aimed at raising awareness and promoting public health and safety. The MoU also provides an opportunity for trainers at the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services to join the University’s Professional Diploma in Medical Education Leadership program, offered by the Medical Education Center. Moreover, practical training opportunities will be made available to students of the University’s College of Medicine and Health Sciences within the corporation, in addition to volunteer opportunities in the field of first aid.
Prof. Al-Naimiy emphasized that similar partnerships with national institutions are a significant step towards developing academic and medical competencies in emergency medicine and first aid. He stated that the University of Sharjah is committed to collaborating with educational and service institutions to offer educational and research programs that keep pace with the latest developments in healthcare. He added that the collaboration with the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services through the University’s medical and health colleges will enhance the outcomes of medical education and enrich students' educational and practical experiences.
H.E. Mishaal Abdul Karim Jalfar affirmed that continuous education and training are among the corporation’s top priorities, along with raising awareness of first aid across various community sectors. He emphasized that the partnership with the University of Sharjah aims at fostering the exchange of knowledge and expertise in the scientific, educational, training, and research fields, and benefiting the community. He further added that this collaboration will positively impact the skills of the corporation’s workforce and enhance the emergency medical sector by equipping it with qualified national personnel capable of addressing current and future needs. In addition, he stressed that the corporation would continue its mission to raise community awareness by training faculty and staff at the University in first aid and encouraging volunteerism in this vital humanitarian field.
