Landmark Agreement Signed between Sharjah Judicial Council and University of Sharjah

His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Judicial Council, and President of the University of Sharjah witnessed the signing of a pivotal Memorandum of Understanding between the Judicial Council and the University of Sharjah (UoS) on Monday morning.

The ceremony, held at the University’s main campus, saw the memorandum signed by His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Ali Al Mualla, Secretary-General of the Judicial Council, and His Excellency Professor Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah. The agreement marks a significant push to strengthen institutional collaboration and integrate the roles of the judiciary and higher education, aiming to build an advanced partnership in academic education, judicial training, and the exchange of scientific expertise. It also seeks to foster innovative research and the ongoing development of educational and training curricula.

Central to the agreement is the establishment of a Center for Legal and Judicial Studies. This new entity will drive forward scientific and legal research, facilitate access to a wide range of informational resources, including specialized books and academic studies, and explore the possibility of establishing an endowed chair in judicial and legal studies.

The memorandum also paves the way for a portfolio of joint academic programs, most notably a master’s degree in judicial studies and a legal expert certification program within the College of Law of the UoS. Practical training opportunities for university students will be expanded through cooperative initiatives, while council employees will benefit from targeted academic and technical support via specialized workshops and training sessions. Both parties have also agreed to collaborate on developing leadership programs tailored for the legal and judicial sectors, as well as to organize specialized conferences, forums, and opportunities for institutional exchange and field visits.

This strategic partnership underscores the joint commitment of both entities to developing top-tier legal and judicial talent within Sharjah. By providing a robust framework for hands-on training and ongoing professional development, the agreement is set to play a vital role in building the emirate’s knowledge-driven justice system. The initiative is expected to strengthen the fusion of academic rigor and practical expertise, aligning with Sharjah’s ambitions to establish a pioneering, transparent, and highly competent judicial framework.

Today’s agreement signals a transformative milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the University of Sharjah and the Judicial Council, promising to elevate knowledge capacity, advance specialized training, and reinforce Sharjah’s position as a leader in world-class legal education and judicial excellence.
