Holy Quran Academy Signs MoU with the University of Sharjah

The Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Sharjah (UoS) to foster collaboration in the development of research and programs in Quranic studies and the science of Quranic interpretation. The agreement also aims to facilitate knowledge and expertise exchange, thereby contributing to the development of national talent capable of leading and innovating in this field. This aligns with the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah to build a sustainable knowledge-based society.

The signing ceremony was held at the Academy's headquarters and was attended by His Excellency Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, President of the Academy, and His Excellency Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University. Also present were His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Khalaf Al Hosani, Secretary-General of the Academy; Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies; as well as several academics, researchers, and department directors from both institutions.

The MoU outlines cooperation in organizing conferences and forums to showcase the latest developments and best practices in Quranic studies, as well as training programs and workshops to enhance research capabilities. The agreement also provides training opportunities for students of the college of Sharia and Islamic Studies, while fostering the exchange of academic expertise in postgraduate programs. 

His Excellency Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji emphasized that the strategic partnership with the University of Sharjah opens new horizons for collaboration in Quranic research and studies, in line with the highest international standards. He stated:“This partnership with the University of Sharjah, a leading academic institution ranked 53rd worldwide in research quality, will significantly enhance the Academy’s contributions to Quranic sciences and promote its role as an international center for advanced Quranic research.”

He further noted that the collaboration will support joint academic projects and research initiatives with the University and provide a platform for launching unique scientific projects in the service of the Holy Quran. It will also reinforce the Emirate of Sharjah’s strategy for intellectual and cultural development, in accordance with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who places great importance on advancing research and preserving Islamic heritage.

For his part, His Excellency Prof. Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, emphasized that the signing of the MoU aligns with the University's strategic plan developed under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah. The strategic plan underscores the importance of fostering collaboration with local institutions to better serve the community. His Excellency also expressed his happiness  at signing the agreement, highlighting that the University is distinguished by its faculty members, researchers, and speicalists in various fields, particularly in quranic sciences, linguistics, and technology.  He emphasized that this partnership will enhance scientific research efforts , support the integration of modern technology in advancing the study of the Holy Quran and its sciences. 

During the visit, the Chancellor and his accompanying delegation were briefed on the scientific contributions of the Holy Quran Academy and its efforts to promote the values of tolerance inherent in Islam. He expressed his deep admiration for this distinguished academic institution, describing it as a prominent cultural landmark committed to the preservation of the Holy Qur’an and its sciences.
