The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering which was established in 1997, offers an ABET-accredited bachelor program. Since then it has become a recognized leader in Civil Engineering education in the region. The Department graduated a number of Civil Engineers, men and women, who are making outstanding contributions to the community as Civil and Environmental Engineering professionals in their respective organizations.
The Department strives to remain at the forefront of modern Civil Engineering in a College committed for excellence, in Sharjah City, the cultural capital of the Arab world. The Department offers undergraduate and graduate programs that are recognized and accredited locally and internationally, providing a balance between science and technology education and professional growth and development. Civil Engineers can work as project leaders, managers and supervisors in their offices or in the field. They have opportunities to participate in the creative design of urban infrastructure, buildings, skyscrapers, airports, bridges, dams, highways, tunnels, irrigation and water supply systems, and environmental protection systems. They can work as structural engineers, transportation and highway engineers, geotechnical engineers, water resources engineers or environmental engineers. Many Civil Engineers also end up managing major companies or establishing their own companies.
