In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
All Praises are for Allah (the Exalted) the Lord of the world. May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon His chosen Messenger, Muhammad, his family and Companions and upon all those who follow them in the best way, until the Last Day.
The College of Shari‘ah and Islamic Studies is one of the foremost colleges that rose to prominence with the establishment of the University of Sharjah in the year 1977. The College strives to actualize the general vision of the University of Sharjah in its goals i.e. to successfully combine tradition with the demands of modernity. It aims to do so with the co-operation of its team of specialist staff, with foundations based in knowledge and practical skills pertaining to the branches of the knowledge of the Shari‘ah. It aims to provide students with factual and practical knowledge and to enable them by these firm foundations and expertise to be professional teachers, researchers, judges, lawyers and successful advocates of the faith, able to independently research and be involved in community service.
The Department seeks to encourage the development of a positive, balanced, academic personality, capable of interacting with the changing contemporary environment. We aim to accomplish this through effectively promoting moderation and worthy and noble development in the light of the revelatory texts and encouraging the values of attachment to the faith, to the nation of Islam, to their homelands, and by an emphasis on working to maintain security and stability.
The college is comprised of two academic sections: The Foundations of Religion and Jurisprudence and its Foundations. The college offers the following degrees:
