The uniqueness of the Fashion Design with Textiles Program at CFAD UOS is that it is the only one of this kind in UAE which blends both disciplines-fashion and textile design to equip students with the profound knowledge, skills and attitudes throughout three years of studies.
The curriculum for the Fashion Design with Textiles Programme focuses on three broad areas of learning reflected in the unit objectives, learning and teaching approaches:
Theme I Design Practice
Theme II Contextual and Cultural Studies
Theme III Personal and Professional Development
These areas are being taught through the theory classes with the focus on the permanent practice within our fashion and textile studios and workshops.
Being the capstones of FDT teaching and learning process these experiences shape our students to become innovative, competent and professional fashion designers of XXI century.
Another quality is that over the past several years, the FDT department has been working on establishing strong bonds and cooperative spirit with the cultural institutions and professional community in UAE and abroad.
Student's projects in collaboration with Sharjah Museum has brought us attention of the cultural community as the most successful student's works are being exhibited within the Sharjah Museum regular annual program.
The student's participation and success in the prestigious regional fashion competitions such as Tiffany Co. & Harpers Bazaar Arabia (with two finalists and the winning collection) and Thailand Academy Design Competition has brought us to the forefront of the successful and prosperous fashion and textile design programs in UAE and the region.
As a result, the number of students entering the Fashion with Textiles Design Program at CFAD is increasing. No doubt that the generations to come will continue delivering the successful results within FDT teaching and learning model of best educational practices.
