Chair's Welcome
Welcome to the Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering  Management

One of the fastest growing departments at
the University of Sharjah, our department was established in 2006 to offer a BSc program in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management in recognition to the vital role industrial engineers play in both service and manufacturing industries. It is the first program in the region to be accredited by EAC of ABET meeting two program criteria: industrial engineering and engineering management. We are proud that many of our BSc graduates are employed in renowned organizations such as ADCO, Emirates Group, Dubai International Airport, Dubal, Ducab, NPCC, DU, IBM, Unilever, Dubai Municipality, NAFFCO, DEWA, SEWA, etc.
In addition to the BSc program, the department offers MSc and PhD programs in engineering management (EM). MEM is housed in the department. PhDEM is administered at the College of Engineering under the leadership of a coordinator from the department and offered jointly with École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS), Canada.
Currently, the Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management has student enrollment of about 500 in the BSc program and 100 in the MSc & PhD programs. The department has thirteen outstanding faculty members who conduct research in diverse areas of industrial engineering and engineering management including supply chain management, quality management, maintenance management, project management, applied optimization, ergonomics, industrial safety, manufacturing systems and healthcare. In addition we have part-time faculty members. The department is also supported by a secretary, three lab engineers, and graduate assistants. We are committed to continue contributing toward welfare of the society and economic growth.
