Chair's Welcome

The College of Sciences in collaboration with the University of Sheffield in UK, offers a Bachelor of Sciences in Biotechnology for the first time in the UAE. The Biotechnology Program at the University of Sharjah (UOS) is hosted by the Department of Applied Biology which was established at the beginning of the academic year 2008/2009. It is the fifth academic department of the College of Sciences. The decision to establish the Department at UOS is one of the most important steps the University has taken to keep up with the rapid advances in the life sciences, and to prepare students for rewarding careers in the fields of biotechnology, whether in industry, academia or government.

The Department Office is located in W8. The current number of students enrolled in the biotechnology program is 250. The projected number of enrolled student is promising as UOS is paying attention to the rapid advances in the life sciences . The  graduate students  of the Program also have the opportunity   graduates of this program to  join the Master/PhD programs in Molecular Medicine and Translational Research at UOS/College of Medicine in cooperation with Paris Diderot University/France.
