His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah, today congratulated the 12th class (2nd cohort) of UOS graduates at the University of Sharjah, praising the University for the high status that it has attained in the region and its constant and continuous development and growth. He said that the University of Sharjah, despite its reputable status, continues to develop, not only to keep pace with other international universities and today’s technology, but through international partnerships, it has surpassed the borders of traditional education by expanding and offering new academic programs of the highest quality at the bachelor, master and PhD levels.
His Highness stated this during his commencement address to 546 male and female graduates at the UOS 12th Commencement Ceremony (2nd Cohort). Graduates received their degrees for completing diploma, bachelor and master degree programs in various UOS colleges. Among the graduates was the first class of graduates from the Biotechnology program. H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan, Ruler of Sharjah, said, “We have signed agreements of cooperation with the most reputable international universities across the globe to establish new academic programs, participate in the exchange of students and faculty, and conduct joint research. These partnerships and programs have been established to give opportunity to everyone, each according to his/her wishes and abilities, so that every individual may contribute to the progress in our communities.” His Highness addressed the first graduating class in Biotechnology saying, “This program was established in cooperation with the University of Sheffield in the U.K., which means that our graduates today will join the British Society of Biology, known for its program excellence.”
His Highness addressed the graduates saying, “Your graduation today places you at the threshold of opportunity as you embark upon your careers and exert all your efforts to build our community. You will need to be fully committed to integrity, ethnics and our noble Islamic principles. We are confident that you are up to the task.” H.H. continued by expressing his pride in the graduates and said that he has great expectations for them in the future. He urged the graduates to continue increasing their knowledge and developing their skills to realize their aims and goals.
H.H. addressed all present at the commencement ceremony saying, “We have no task more important at hand than making available opportunities for education and healthcare for our sons and daughters. The University of Sharjah embodies all that we seek.” He continued by thanking all those in attendance for their efforts to ensure the distinction of our educational and research institutions.
The University of Sharjah is a nonprofit independent institution of higher education, operating under its own Board of Trustees, in accordance with the directives of its founder and President, H.H. Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi.
