UOS Industrial Engineering Program to be Recognized as 2013 International Model at U.S. Conference

The organizing committee for the International Conference on Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation, to be held in Portland, Oregon from 12-13th April 2013, has requested permission from the University of Sharjah to present a report prepared by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) on the Industrial Engineering program offered by the College of Engineering at the University of Sharjah. The program will be cited at the conference as a model program of international standards for the year 2013 in field of Industrial Engineering.
Announcing this, Professor Samy A. Mahmoud, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, said that the University of Sharjah welcomed the request and that the international success of the Industrial Engineering program was largely due to the ongoing support and directives of the University’s founder and President, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah.
The Chancellor said that a major source of the program’s success and quality assurance is owed to its having obtained international accreditation from ABET. Its success, he said, may further be attributed to its educational outcomes, as reflected by its outstanding graduates and its accreditation by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as with 85 other UOS programs in various fields also accredited by the Ministry.

Stating this, the Chancellor added, “Interest in the specializations offered by the College of Engineering have far surpassed all expectations, which in and of itself proves the success of this program, in addition to the success of its graduates in their various places of employment.”

The on-site accreditation commission from ABET visited the University of Sharjah and fully evaluated the program whereupon it prepared the abovementioned report.
