Dr. Mahmood Yaseen Hachim, a Ph.D. Candidate in Molecular Medicine & Translational Research program (Asthma Research Group), College of Medicine, and a Research Assistant in Sharjah Institute for Medical Research, University of Sharjah was awarded the Best Oral Presentation in the theme of Big Data in Human genetics in the 7th Pan Arab Human Genetics Conference (PAHGC), organized by Centre for Arab Genomic Studies (CAGS) and The theme of the conference this year is 'The Omics Era which was organized by the Centre for Arab Genomic Studies (CAGS) held on 18-20 January, 2018, Dubai-United Arab Emirates. Dr Mahmood's oral presentation award entitled "Deciphering the molecular pathogenesis of Asthma using publicly available Transcriptomic data" beat fierce international competition.
The conference aim was to bring together diverse expertise and resources pertaining to the field of medical genetics in the Arab World, thereby facilitating multidisciplinary research. This year's edition of the conference focused on cutting edge topics pertaining to human genetics, specifically, the use of Big Data, personalized medicine and its relevance in the Arab World, and the latest trends in human genetics, including metabolomics and the human microbiome. International and regional experts took to the platform to deliver their lectures on these topics.
