Our Team

Belkacem Said-Houari
is an Associate Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics UoS.
He received his Ph.D degree in partial differential equations from Annaba University (Algeria) in 2005 and
his HDR (Habilitation) in partial differential equations from Savoie university (France) in 2009.
Dr. Said-Houari has held 4 postdoctoral positions: in Toulouse University (France), in Savoie University (France),
in Konstanz University (Germany) and in KAUST (KSA).
His research interests focus on analysis of hyperbolic PDE, integro-differential equations, parabolic and
hyperbolic-parabolic PDE. He is the author or co-author of 60 research papers published in refereed international
 journals. He is also the author of two textbooks published by Springer (2015,2017).
 He is a member of ISAAC (The International Society for Analysis, its Applications and Computation).
Dr. Belkacem Said-Houari has supervised 1 master student and 4 PhD students and has an international research
collaboration.

Basem Attili
is a Professor of Numerical Analysis in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.  He received his BSc (1977) in Mathematics from the University of Jordan, Jordan, and his MSc (1981) and PhD (1984) from Southern Methodist University at Dallas, Texas, USA.  He served as the chair of the Mathematics Deprtment and as a Dean of Graduate Studies at University of Sharjah. He is an associate editor in Applied Numerical Mathematics-Elsevier. He is the author of a book on first course in differential equations in English and transalted into French in addition to a book on scientific research skills (in Arabic). His research interests include: numerical analysis, numerical computations of ordinary differential equations, computations of singularities, two point boundary value problems.

Salim Messaoudi
 

Professor Salim Messaoudi got his PhD in Mathematics from Carnegie-Mellon University, USA in 1989. He is currently a faculty member and an active researcher in the department of Mathematics, University of Sharjah.

His area of research is in PDE's and Applied Mathematics. During his career, he conducted sole and collaborative research (over 150 papers), gave more than 75 presentations in conferences, visited many universities in Arabia Countries, France, Germany, Greece, and Brazil, and supervised Many PhD and MSc students and conducted many research projects.

As a result of his achievements, he won many awards, in particular the Shoman Arab Young Researchers (2005) and the King Abdullah Translation Award (2014). He was elected as Fellow member in the African Academy of Sciences in 2014 and his name appeared in the highly cited list in 2014 and 2015

Abdelaziz Soufyane
is a Professor of Mathematics with Applications and the Chairman of the Mathematics Department at the University of Sharjah. He is an accomplished researcher who over the years kept a sustained record of scholarship and has been an author/co-author of more than 45 publications. He earned his BSc degree (1993) from University Mohamed V, Rabat, Morocco, and  MSc (1994), and PhD (1999) degrees from University Franche Comte, France.. His research interests include stability of a coupled systems of partial differential equations, control theory, modeling and numerical analysis for surface acoustic waves and applied optimization problems.

Mostafa Zahri
is Associate Professor of Mathematics at the Mathematics Department at the University of Sharjah. He earned his B.Sc degree (1997) from University Mohamed I, Oujda, Morocco, and MSc (2003), from the Technical University of Darmstadt  (Germany) and PhD (2009) degree from Goethe-University, Frankfurt, Germany. His research interests include Numerical Analysis for ODEs, SDEs, PDEs and SPDEs, Numerical Analysis for Dynamical Systems, Domain Decomposition Methods for PDEs and SPDEs, Modeling and Simulation of Multi-agents Systems, Implementation of Population Interaction Methods, Computational Mathematics and Stochastics.

Muhammad Islam Mustafa
is an Associate Professor of Applied Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Sharjah.  He received his BSc (1991) and MSc (1994) from the University of Jordan, and his PhD (2008) from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, KSA.  He served in a number of professional, academic and administration positions in Jordan, KSA  and UAE.  Dr. Muhammad Islam has supervised and co-supervised a number of graduate theses and received an award for research excellence. His research work treats different issues and investigates several types of systems in the field of partial differential equations including the existence of solutions and asymptotic analysis for systems of PDEs and delayed PDEs. A major part of his research activities is dedicated to establishing general stability results and explicit energy decay rates as well as blow up results for different evolution problems in elasticity, viscoelasticity, thermoelasticity, and thermoviscoelasticity. The findings of his research have been published through many papers in reputed refereed journals.

Hishyar Kh. Abdullah 
is Associate Professor of Mathematics with in the Mathematics Department at the University of Sharjah. He is an accomplished researcher and has been an author/co-author of more than 33 publications. He earned his BSc degree (1975) and M.Sc (1977)  from University of Baghdad, Baghdad, Iraq, and  PhD (1989) degrees from University of Essex, England. His research interests include Fluid Dynamics Theory of Differential Equations and Theory of Difference Equations.

Zahid Raza 
is an Associate of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Sharjah. He is a young researcher  and has been an author/co-author of more than 65 publications. He earned his BSc degree (2001) and  MSc (2003) form the University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. He  did his PhD (2008) degree from Government College University, Lahore Pakistan. He worked at Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy  of Sciences as post-doctoral fellow during the period October 2008-March 2009. His research interests include Chemical Graph Theory, Coding theory, Algebraic Geometry, Elementary number theory  and Computational algebra.
