Dr. Salah Altoubat is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Coordinator of the Sustainable Construction Materials and Structural Systems Research Group at the University of Sharjah. He received his BSc (1987) from Yarmouk University, Jordan, his MSc (1990) from Jordan University of Science and Technology, and his Ph.D (2000) in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. He has industrial and academic experience in North America and in the Middle East. His expertise spans materials engineering, structural engineering and civil engineering infrastructure. He won a number of teaching, research and professional service awards.  Dr. Altoubat is a recipient of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Wason Award for the most meritorious paper. Prior to joining the UoS, he was a senior research associate at W. R. Grace, Cambridge, USA. He also worked as post-doctoral research associate (2000-2001) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, and as a material and structural engineer (1990-1994) at the Arab Center for Engineering Studies, Jordan.  He has published more than 55 peer reviewed articles and he is a co-inventor of two USA Patents that lead to a commercial product. He has been serving in a number of editorial/technical committees for international journals, conferences and professional societies. His current research interest includes durability aspects and sustainability of concrete structures; structural applications of concrete composites; high performance fiber composites and concrete technology; Rehabilitation and retrofitting of structures.

Prof. Mohamed Maalej is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at University of Sharjah (UoS), where he had previously served as Vice Dean and Acting Dean of the College of Engineering (2007-2013).  Prior to joining the UoS, he served as a Faculty Member of the CEE Department at the National University of Singapore for 7 years (1999-2006).  He also worked within the Canadian Network of Centres of Excellence on Intelligent Sensing for Innovative Structure (ISIS Canada) at the University of Toronto, Ontario, as a Postdoctoral Fellow from 1996 to 1999. His research interests are in the areas of high performance fiber cementitious composites and their structural applications.  His research publications include 51 articles in international refereed journals, 33 conference articles/presentations, 2 books/book chapters, and one Patent.

Samer Barakat is a Professor of Structural Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at University of Sharjah (UoS). He received his BSc (1984) in Civil Engineering from Yarmouk University, his MSc (1989) in Structural Engineering from the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), and his PhD (1994) in Structural Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder, USA.  Prior to joining the UoS in 2000, he served as a Faculty Member of the CEE Department at JUST for many years (1994-2007). His research interests are in the areas of structural Mechanics; structural reliability and reliability-based design and optimization; composite materials and retrofitting of structures; neural networks and structural control.  His research publications include 40 articles in international refereed journals, 33 conference articles/presentations.

Dr. Maher Omar is an Associate Professor of Geotechnical Engineering and until recently was the Chairman of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Sharjah. He is an accomplished researcher who over the years kept a sustained record of scholarship and has been an author/co-author of more than 70 publications. He earned his BSc (1990), MSc (1992), and PhD (1995) degrees from Southern Illinois University, USA.  Dr. Maher has received numerous awards for research and teaching excellence and recently the recipient of University of Sharjah outstanding community service award for faculty. His research interests include Soil Stabilization using Synthetic Fibers, Landfill Analysis & Design, Soil Remediation, Soil Liquefaction, Machine Foundation, Sustainable Development, and Engineering Education.

Dr. Moussa Leblouba is an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Sharjah. He earned his BEng degree (2005) from the High National School of Public Works, Algeria, and his PhD (2009) degree from the Technical University of Civil Engineering, Bucharest, Romania.  Dr. Moussa has successfully supervised MSc and PhD students from different institutions and has authored and co-authored several publications in the area of Earthquake Engineering. His research interests include vibration isolation of structures, Performance-Based Seismic Design numerical modeling of structures and structural systems.

Waleed Zeiada is an assistant professor of Pavement Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He received his BSc (1999) and MSc (2004) in Civil Engineering from Mansoura University, Egypt and his PhD (2012) from the Arizona State University, USA. He has served as a reviewer in major international pavement and material journals. Currently, Dr. Zeiada is a young member of the TRB AFK-40 committee and an associate member of the Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists. He has participated in various service activities for his profession including technical, scientific, and conference committees. Dr. Zeiada has been participating directly and indirectly in many international research projects in the areas of pavement analysis and design, advanced material characterization, sustainable pavement strategies, and pavement performance and rehabilitation. Dr. Zeiada has published 50 technical papers in respected peer review journals, peer reviewed technical conferences, and technical reports.

Dr. M. Talha Junaid, is an Assistant Professor of Materials and Structural Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the College of Engineering, University of Sharjah (UoS). He received his BE (2000) in Civil Engineering from NED University, his ME (2005) in Structural engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology, and his PhD (2015) in Civil Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia. He has research and teaching experience in several universities including, University of New South Wales, University of Sharjah,  the American University of Sharjah and the Asian Institute to Technology. His research interests include Low Carbon Cementitious Materials, Advance Concrete Materials, Geopolymer Concrete and Computer Applications to Structural Engineering.
