Our Team
 Ashraf Elnagar is a Professor of Artificial Intelligence in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Sharjah, United.  He received his BSc (1986) and MSc (1988) in Computer Science from the University of Kuwait, Kuwait, and his and PhD (1993) from the University of Alberta, Canada.  During his service at the University of Sharjah, he served as the founding chair of the dept. of Computer Science at UoS, Chair of the MIS department, and last as the Dean of the Community College.  He won a number of teaching, research and community and professional service awards. He won several teaching, community and professional awards. He is the recipient of the 1999 Shoman's Best Young Researcher Award in the fields of Mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics in the Arab World. His research interests include: intelligent systems (robotics), machine learning, natural language processing, pattern analysis and recognition, and IT education.

Ismail Shahin is an Associate Professor of Speech and Speaker Recognition in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.  He received his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering in 1992, 1994, and 1998, respectively, from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, U.S.A. He has 47 journal and conference publications. He won a number of teaching, research and community service awards. He has remarkable contribution in organizing many conferences, symposiums and workshops. His research interests include speech recognition, speaker recognition under neutral, stressful, and emotional talking conditions, emotion and talking condition recognition, gender recognition using voice, and accent recognition in each of Arabic and English languages.

Shehdeh Fareh is a professor of linguistics at the Department of English Language and Literature. He is currently the Director of the Language Institute   at the University of Sharjah. He got his MA degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the University of Jordan and another MA in linguistics from the University of Kansas from which he also obtained his PhD in linguistics. He is the author of a series of books for teaching English as foreign language titled Better English Now. Furthermore, he translated a number of books from English into Arabic and vice versa. His research interests include teaching English as a foreign language, contrastive discourse analysis and translation.

Ali Bou Nassif is currently an Assistant Professor at University of Sharjah, UAE, as well as an Adjunct Research Professor at Western University, Canada. He obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Western University, Canada in 2009 and 2012, respectively. Ali's research interests include the applications of statistical and artificial intelligence models in different areas such as software engineering, electrical engineering, e-learning, security and social media. Ali is a registered professional engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario, as well as a member of IEEE Computer Society.
