Research

Priority lines of research

The group is working in coherent manner to focus on the following lines of research:

  • Identify mutations involved in human monogenetic disorders. The group has access to the Sanger sequencer to carry out routine DNA sequencing.
  • Find the differentially expressed genes and microRNAs during the differentiation of mesenchymal and dental pulp stem cells into neural and adipocytes lineages
  • Sequencing of transcriptomics by NGS (next generation sequencing) to find differential genes and microRNAs expressions during the differentiation of mesenchymal and dental pulp stem cells into neural and adipocytes lineages.
  • Whole exome sequencing  to unravel the mutations in the affected individuals
  • Transfection of mesenchymal and dental pulp stem cells with specific microRNAs to enhance their differentiation towards neural and adipocytes lineages.
  • Use of the animal model to assess the therapeutic and functional effectiveness of the mesenchymal and dental pulp stem cells-derived neurons and neural progenitor-like cells
