Master of Science in Leadership in Higher Education

The Master of Science program in leadership Higher Education is designed for leaders in all diciplines of higher education reflecting the higher education leader as both professional teacher and educational leader. Specifically, this program is designed to enhance the educators skills in a variety of professional areas - curriculum design, teaching, assessment, personnel development, organizational development, leadership skills, research and evaluation. The program is unique in its combination of leadership, education and oraganizational change. The expectation is that the applicants from all higher education professions would be eligible to apply.

The overall aim of the MSc. in Leadership in Higher Education is to enhance the standard of learning and teaching and leadership skills for educators occupying executive and management posts. The specific program aims are:

The program airms are to prepare higher educators acquire the knowledge and skills to provide a leadership role in educating future health professionals and to contribute to improved scholarship of teaching and learning in through evidenced based practice and research.  

 

Program Goals

The M.Sc. in Higher Education provides advanced educational and research experience in all educational and leadership aspects of Higher Education.

 

Program Outcomes

By the end of the program, graduates will be able to:

  • Design an effective curriculum for a higher education program with a vision and a mission that engages all stakeholders of the educational process.
  • Use teaching and learning methods that are effective in a variety of settings.
  • Evaluate the new teaching methods from a number of perspectives.
  • Demonstrate leadership capabilities in all aspects of higher education.

 

Program Competency

  • Develop knowledge and skills in the area of curriculum design, delivery, evaluation and assessment with sensitivity to the culture, context of practice, and higher education systems in GCC countries.
  • Promote and support student learning and faculty professional development in the context of higher education.
  • Facilitate the development of a vision for teaching and learning in higher education that is responds to diverse community needs.
  • Promote the scholarship of teaching and learning and the place of education research which contributes to evidenced based practice.
