The University of Sharjah celebrated the graduation of the fourth batch from the Professional Diploma in Quality Management and Institutional Excellence program run by the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development at the University. The program included 28 participants from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigner Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai who completed 120 training hours.
During the ceremony, His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, welcomed the attendees and expressed his joy in the continued cooperation between the University and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigner Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai. He added that the University – following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah – is a national development project that seeks to support and serve society in various fields through utilizing the knowledge and expertise of participants in the professional diploma programs. The University of Sharjah, he continued, is now one of the largest universities in the UAE in terms of the number of enrolled students and programs offered as the University now offers 107 programs. This in addition to its branches spread across the UAE, its centers of excellence, research institutions, and multiculturalism (the University is home to 101 different nationalities). All of this enabled the University to become one of the top three universities in the UAE according to the Times World University Rankings of 2020.
For his part, Major General Obaid Muhair Bin Suroor, Deputy Director-General of GDRFA in Dubai, stated that the development of the human element is one of the most important priorities set within the strategy of the establishment of Dubai Residency, which is represented in the improvement of the knowledge and skills of employees. Departing from this focus, Dubai Residency ensures the development of its employees by providing them with the necessary resources to perform their jobs to the best of the abilities.
Prof. Radhi Al Zubaidi, Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development, also welcomed the attendees and thanked those who contributed to the success of the program. He clarified that the program focused on providing participants with the knowledge and skills as well as modern directions in quality management and institutional excellence by highlighting all aspects of quality management.
The program clarified the concepts of quality and how they evolved over time, as well as mastering the foundations, tasks and knowledge necessary for the application of overall quality. This is through the participants mastering the use of various tools to manage and improve quality, and how to manage partnerships and ways to promote them to support institutional excellence, in addition to the use of innovation in the field.
