His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, received a delegation from the Arab Producers' Union, which works under the umbrella of the Arab League, with the aim of exploring possible areas of cooperation between both parties in order to instill the culture of creativity and innovation in the media field. Mr. Majid Al-Jarwan, Vice Chancellor for Public Relations, attended the meeting along with Prof. Essam Nasr Selim, Acting Dean of the College of Communication, and Prof. Abdelaziz Soufyane, Deputy Director for Office of International Relations at the University. The delegation included Dr. Mustafa Salama, Secretary General of the Arab Producers Union for Television Works, and Mr. Wael Al Maleh, Coordinator of the Union's office in the UAE.
During the meeting, both parties discussed means of strengthening cooperation between the University and the Union in the media field by highlighting the creative and innovative ideas of students through adopting their projects in the media field. This in addition to the College of Communication collaborating with the Union on their weekly TV program that will be broadcasted on the UAE's TV channels under the title: "Smart Government." The program will dedicate a section as a media platform for students to present their ideas and creative experiences in the field of media. The delegation also welcomed the sponsorship of a number of projects launched by the College of Communication.
It is worth mentioning that the Union works under the umbrella of the Arab League and the Council of Arab Information Ministers, and includes a number of media and production unions and institutions in the Arab region.
